The story so far in lambeth
Lambeth has a long and proud history of being a borough of welcome and sanctuary. To live up to that history, in Autumn 2014, local schools and faith groups that are part of Lambeth Citizens began a campaign to persuade Lambeth Council to resettle refugee families from Syria to the borough.
After nearly 18 months of campaigning, Lambeth Council agreed to resettle 20 families from the camps around Syria as well as 3 families from other countries in the region.
By Autumn 2017, working in close partnership with Lambeth Council, we have resettled 20 Syrian and Iraqi families as well as several unaccompanied refugee children who are settling in with foster families in Lambeth.
Our refugees welcome team works to support the families as they settle in to their new communities.
