Safe Passage is a project of Citizens UK that was started in 2015 when faith and community leaders, many of whom were from South London, travelled to Calais and saw that many unaccompanied children had family in the UK. They decided to try and find safe and legal ways to reunite children with their families and Safe Passage was born.
Since then, 1150 refugee children have arrived safely and legally in the UK through the routes Safe Passage have opened.
Safe Passage exists to help unaccompanied child refugees and vulnerable adults find safe, legal routes to sanctuary. Unaccompanied asylum seeking children from France, Greece, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria and Syria have been reunited with their relatives. For those clients who arrive in the UK, Safe Passage also supports their transition to a new life.
