Southwark Refugees Welcome
The story so far

The Southwark Refugee Welcome Group formed at a South London-wide event in early 2016. Learning that Southwark Council had not yet welcomed any Syrian refugees under the Vulnerable Person Resettlement Scheme, we agreed to form a group to identify homes and put pressure on the Council to accept families under this scheme.

In November 2016, we met with the Council and secured a pledge to resettle five families per year for five years. Four properties were put forward by the Salvation Army in Southwark.

We hope to welcome the first families to these homes shortly and will continue to work to identify homes for additional families in the coming months and years.

If you would like to volunteer your time to help welcome these families, or are a private landlord considering putting forward a property in Southwark for this scheme, please email
